Here are some ways to advance your tumbling: Focus On Technique The bilateral motor abilities of children who tumble also improve, as do their balance, coordination, power, agility, and athleticism. Tucks, cartwheels, backbends, rolls, summersaults, handstands, leg splits, back flips, and round-offs are some of the most popular tumbling maneuvers. Power tumbling, or floor gymnastics, is where athletes combine artistic gymnastics with trampoline skills without needing equipment or support. Some skills learned in this class are, but not limited to, back tucks, round off back handsprings, and front tucks off the mini trampoline.Tumbling is a physically demanding activity that requires strength, flexibility, and coordination. Now they will learn how to put all the skills they have learned (along with new skills) together, self-awareness, and dexterousness. During their time in advanced tumblers our athletes get to build on the foundation in previous classes. To finish our tumbling classes, we have our advanced tumblers! Athletes move into this class after demonstrating the skills taught in beginner and intermediate tumbling at an 85% proficiency for each skill. MUST PASS "BEGINNER TUMBLING" PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN "INTERMEDIATE TUMBLING" Some skills learned in this class are, but not limited to, back handsprings, front handsprings, and various skills on the mini trampoline. In this class our athletes will focus on technique, fitness and agility. Our intermediate athletes have proved they can execute the skills needed in beginner tumbling at an 85% proficiency for all skills. MUST COMPLETE "ROOKIE CLASS" PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN "BEGINNER TUMBLING" ![]() Some skills learned in this class are, but not limited to, cartwheels, forward/backward rolls, various jumps off a mini trampoline and turns on our tumble trak. Our coaches strive to build a strong foundation by teaching proper terminology, form, and execution. ![]() In beginner tumbling our athletes have the opportunity to learn the crucial foundation that will be built upon in subsequent classes. Some skills focused on in this class include bridge, handstand hold, backwards roll, and relevè balance! It focuses on proper shaping, safety, terminology, strength and conditioning, and fundamental gymnastics skills to prepare them for success in higher level classes. This is a great way to transition from our preschool classes or try gymnastics for the first time! Gymnasts will meet friends and learn all about the structure of a downstairs class. Welcome to your first stop in our progressive gymnastics program! All gymnasts ages 5+ and in kindergarten or higher, will start here and continue into beginner level classes after completion of this course. New to BGA but not gymnastics? Call the office at 70 or email at schedule an evaluation for appropriate placement. Gymnasts will develop balance and agility that they can use in all sports. Through the fundamentals of gymnastics, we hope the gymnasts will develop a hard work ethic, self awareness and self confidence. Once a gymnast successfully demonstrates all skills at a level they will pass to the next level. Gymnasts are evaluated at the end of each session.
